Schmalz

A new type of vacuum gripper series is now available!

Schmalz Corporation has added a new custom-made type "FQE-V" to its lineup of lightweight vacuum grippers, FQE, which can be designed with any suction surface.

The optimum suction surface for each workpiece maximizes holding force and contributes to improved productivity.

Key Features:

1. The shape and size of the suction surface can be freely designed to suit the workpiece, including rectangular, circular, elliptical, and asymmetrical shapes.
2. The maximum suction surface size is 400 x 280 mm, which can accommodate larger workpieces than those in the conventional lineup (maximum 300 x 130 mm).
3. Lightweight, 3D-printed suction surfaces reduce tool weight and enable heavier workpieces to be carried by the robot.
4. Robot sets for various robot manufacturers are available, including mounting flanges and electrical connection cables for immediate use with the robot.

In 2021, Schmalz will introduce the FQE series of vacuum grippers, which will be even lighter and more efficient for general-purpose conveyance. The FQE series has also been well received by our customers. The FQE-V has been released as a new addition to the FQE series to accommodate an even wider range of conveying processes.

FQE-V is a custom-made vacuum gripper that allows the user to freely design the suction surface. The size and shape of the suction surface can be freely designed, including rectangular, circular, elliptical, and asymmetrical shapes. With a maximum size of 400 x 280 mm, it is possible to produce grippers larger than those in the standard FQE lineup (up to 300 x 130 mm). By holding a wide range of workpieces in a shape that matches the workpiece, the gripper suppresses deformation and shaking of the workpiece during suction and ensures stable transfer. The optimum suction surface can be designed for each workpiece, including large workpieces and workpieces with special shapes that were difficult to cover with the conventional lineup, thereby maximizing holding power and contributing to improved productivity. The workpiece contact surface can be selected from foam or suction cup.

The suction surface is molded by a 3D printer. Even with the largest gripper size of 400 x 280 mm, the foam type is extremely lightweight, weighing less than 2 kg. This reduces the tool weight as a percentage of the robot's payload, which reduces the robot's payload size and installation cost, and also allows the robot to handle heavier workpieces.

FQE-V also has a lineup of robot sets for various robot manufacturers. Robot connection flanges and electrical connection cables are included in one set, reducing the time and effort required to select parts at the time of installation and facilitating smooth installation.

Various shapes of suction surfaces, such as rectangular, circular, and oval, can be freely designed.
