Reducing Heavy Physical Labor for Older Workers | Applications Now Open for the Reiwa 8 Age-Friendly Grant

Applications for the 2026 Age-Friendly Grant are now being accepted.

Applications for the 2026 Age-Friendly Grant are now being accepted.

Applications for the Reiwa 8 fiscal year “Age-Friendly Grant” began being accepted on May 20, 2026.

Under the “Expert Measures Course (Workplace Environment Improvement, Exercise Instruction, etc.)” of this grant program, subsidies are provided to cover the costs of risk assessments conducted by experts and the costs of installing equipment based on those results (such as devices and machinery to compensate for declining physical function), with the aim of creating a safe working environment for older workers aged 60 and over.

In addition, the “introduction of heavy-load handling equipment and lifts” is included in the scope of the subsidy, and many companies have utilized this subsidy to introduce Schmalz manual handling systems.

We encourage you to take this opportunity to consider introducing a manual handling system using this grant.

We have also released a video on “How to Utilize the Age-Friendly Subsidy.”
This video uses animations to clearly explain how to utilize the grant for the introduction of various assistive devices, including our manual handling systems. We encourage you to watch it.
